University Meat had the honour of sponsoring the Chef of the Year Competition held at the Foodservice Australia Tradeshow.

The competition was held this year held in Melbourne, and pitted the top national gourmet chefs against each other and the clock. They aimed to deliver their best dishes from a surprise box of ingredients under the time limit, before being judged by their peers.

The competition was an enormous success and following three tiresome days of competition, Michael Cole from Melbourne was named the 2017 Professional Chef of the Year, and in a wonderful performance, he was additionally chosen to be the Australian contender for the Bocuse d'Or World Cuisine Contest.

University Meat provided all competing chefs with the best meat cuts, to ensure their true skills were tested in every heat and quality was maintained across the competition.

Overall, there was a great turnout at the 2017 Foodservice Show in Melbourne and a fantastic, crowd supporting the Chef of the Year Competition. Judges praised the other finalists in the Chef of the Year competition, as well as the winner, Michael Cole for their cooking techniques and achievements. The University Meat Team also was impressed with the competition and had a fantastic opportunity to meet many local food and hospitality businesses and companies during the time spent at the Foodservice tradeshow.
