Thousands of Internships in Hospitality to be Supported by AHA

Young Australians will have the possibility to be a part of the Australian Hotels Association's (AHA) announced commitment to support up to 10,000 internships across the Australian hotels and hospitality trade.

Through the Commonwealth’s Youth Jobs PaTH (Prepare-Trial-Hire) program, AHA aims to assist the initiative through a variety of activities, including directly promoting opportunities to employers, facilitating and training up employability skills and collaborating with different job active providers and with the Department of Employment.

AHA WA’s Chief Executive, Bradley Woods, has expressed the need to encourage youth to seek career pathways within the hospitality trade, particularly at a time when Australia is experiencing positive tourism growth that is only going to continue increasing the demand for jobs in accommodation and food services.

Young unemployed people can have access to up to 10,000 internships within Australia’s pubs and restaurants under a deal to be unveiled by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. Under the program, volunteers who take up an internship and work up to 25 hours per week receive an additional $200 on top of their welfare payments.

University Meat is a Victorian partner of AHA and will endeavour to support the future of the hospitality industry.
