Our turkey is precooked, therefore all you have to do is preheat your oven to 180 degrees (fan-forced), add 200ml of water to the roasting tray and cook for 55-60 minutes. You can find our precooked tender turkey at your closest Costco and IGA, ready for any meal. Bring your favourite Japanese restaurant meal into your own kitchen with ease this Christmas. Try something different and get creative to impress your family. All you have to do is preheat your oven to 160 degrees (fan-forced), remove the chicken from the bag and cook for 25-30 minutes. We suggest you top it off with some Asian greens and use the extra sauce over steamed rice for an authentic Japanese meal. For Christmas day, you can pair our teriyaki chicken with a fresh salad or stir fry.

Roast Turkey and Cranberry Pilaf

Pilaf is a rice dish or in some regions, a wheat dish, usually involving cooking in stock or broth, adding spices and other ingredients such as vegetables or meat. If you’re looking for a quick recipe this Christmas, try our turkey with this quick recipe and serve within 25 minutes.

 

Serves 4

Prep time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Pinch of saffron threads
  • 3 cups Massel chicken style liquid stock, hot
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 500g Standard Meat Co. turkey
  • 1 1/2 cups (300g) white long-grain rice
  • 1 cinnamon quill
  • 1/3 cup (50g) dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup unsalted shelled pistachios, roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves

Method:

  • Stir the saffron into the hot chicken stock and set aside
  • Heat the oil in a large deep frypan over low heat, adding the onion, garlic and a little salt and pepper
  • Stir for 5 minutes until the onion is soft
  • Increase heat to high, add the turkey and cook, stirring, for 2-3 minutes until golden
  • Add the rice and stir to coat the grains
  • Add the cinnamon quill and stock, then bring to the boil, cover and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes or until rice is tender
  • Remove pan from heat and stir in cranberries, pistachios and coriander
  • Cover and stand for a further 5 minutes, fluff up the rice with a fork and serve

 


 
Stir Fry Recipe

Use this recipe with our teriyaki chicken whenever you desire a traditional Chinese dish or prepare on Christmas Day to amaze your family.

 

Serves: 5

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Prep time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, cut into wedges
  • 2 broccoli heads
  • 1 green capsicum/bell pepper cut into wedges
  • 1 cup sugar snap/snow peas
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 500g Standard Meat Co. chicken teriyaki
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic (or 2 cloves garlic, minced)
  • 1 teaspoon corn-starch (or cornflour) mixed with 2 teaspoons water if needed
  • 1 shallot/green onion stem, sliced to garnish

Method:

  • Stir fry onion, broccoli, capsicum and sugar snap peas with 1 tablespoon of oil until just starting to turn vibrant in colour
  • Add 2 tablespoons of water, reduce heat to medium and stir fry until cooked to your liking
  • Remove vegetables from pan and set aside, alternatively, steam vegetables until cooked to your liking
  • Season chicken with salt and pepper
  • Heat sesame oil over medium heat in the same pan and stir fry, stirring occasionally until lightly browned and crisp
  • In a small bowl whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Mirin and garlic to combine
  • Add sauce to the chicken and cook while stirring occasionally, until it bubbles and thickens into a beautiful shiny glaze
  • Garnish with green onion (or shallot) slices and serve over steamed rice
